Prop Order Reservations: Available Quantity Needs a Confirmed Release
An inventory or reservation record can have total, filled, reserved and available quantities. Read the specific product’s definitions before interpreting a field named available. A pending cancellation is not a confirmed release of the remainder.

Draw the quantity boundary explicitly
For this fictional inventory model, begin with 12 units and place a10-unit sell instruction. Before fills,10 are reserved and 2 are available outside that instruction. The example defines quantities only; it does not assert that an evaluation uses this spot-style reservation system.
When 3 units sell, the held quantity falls to 9. The other 7 assigned to the original instruction remain reserved until their actual state changes. Available quantity remains 2 under the stated assumptions, with no other positions, orders or fees.
Separate a request from a final release
A cancellation request alone supplies no release. If a later record confirms cancellation of the remaining 7 with no additional fill or charge, the held 9 becomes available 9 and reserved becomes 0. If another fill occurred first, the arithmetic would need to include it.
Missing confirmation leaves the release unresolved. Do not replace that uncertainty with an optimistic available figure. Preserve the order identifier, distinct executions and final reservation state rather than joining snapshots by a loosely matching description.
| Stage | Held /reserved | Available |
|---|---|---|
| Before instruction | 12 /0 | 12 |
| Ten-unit instruction | 12 /10 | 2 |
| Three units filled | 9 /7 | 2 |
| Remainder cancellation confirmed | 9 /0 | 9 if no later fill or fee |
Use actual product definitions for evaluation review
The original reserved-quantity resource on this site remains the companion. For a Singapore diary, keep full instants beside local dates so a later release is not assigned to an earlier snapshot. HashHedge account and instrument definitions need their own current check.
The optional sponsored link offers programme information. No order, cancellation or release is performed here. The teaching model identifies the evidence needed for an availability claim without predicting how a live account will treat an instruction.
